The Residence Public: An Urban Fire Station

This design for a fire station and community center in St. Louis combines sculptural form with functionality. The monolithic form communicates the strength and reliability of the fire department, while the sweeping curves introduce a sense of movement and approachability. The curves are purposefully placed to accommodate different programmatic needs, such as a large interior climbing wall. Additionally, the copper facade evokes durability and complements the warm tones of the red brick that is prominent in St. Louis.
